WAIKIKI (HawaiiNewsNow) -

The city is considering a proposal that would allow alcohol to be served at Queen's Beach.

Under the proposal, alcohol would be allowed at events up to four times a year, restricting it to an 'invite only section.' Alcoholic beverages would have to be served and not sold.

The proposal comes after organizers for the NFL Pro Bowl and the Queens Beach volleyball tournament approached the city about allowing alcohol at the beach.

A public hearing on the proposal is set for Friday from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Mission Memorial Conference Room.

The director of the City's Parks department will then decide whether to adopt the change.
