KILAUEA VOLCANO, BIG ISLAND (HawaiiNewsNow) -

Scientists reported that a rockfall into the lava lake at Kilauea Volcano triggered a small explosion at the summit, Monday morning.

The summit lake rose to about 100 feet below the floor of the Halema'uma'u Crater.

Meanwhile, small lava flows erupted from a vent on the northeast side of the crater floor.

The most distal active lava is about four miles northeast of the crater but is not a threat to any nearby communities.
