HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

Kapena is starting the new year with a new release.  That's just a short clip they posted on Facebook.  The caption read "Kapena the Next Generation keeping it current."  "365 New release rendered by @kalenakudelima on iTunes this week or download it now @cdbabymusic."  It was recorded at ‎b-u print studios?.

A special guest was treated to a performance by Hawaiian Musician Henry Kapono this weekend.  You know actress Mariska Hargitay from "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit."  She was in town for a fundraiser for her non-profit Joyful Heart Foundation and the "Hawaii Says No More" campaign  Henry posted this photo on Facebook.  The caption read "I had a very inspiring night, last night, performing for a "Joyful Heart".   Roy Yamaguchi of Roy's catered his amazing cuisine and I sang my joyful heart and soul for everyone. "Hargitay was inspired to launch Joyful Heart to help survivors of sexual assault, domestic violence and child abuse.
Hawaii News Now General Manager Rick Blangiardi has been a huge supporter of the Joyful Heart Foundation.  Mariska posted this photo on Instagram during her visit to Hawaii.  The caption read "Proud to team up with #RickBlangiardi from hawaiinewsnow to support HawaiiSaysNOMORE. #Mahalo #PartnersForChange #WeReGoingToFixIt."

The first lady wished everyone on instagram a happy new year by posting this photo.  She wrote "From our family to yours, happy New Year! May 2016 be filled with happiness and joy."

It appears at least one White House journalist misses Hawaii and the holidays.  The pool reporter wrote the following this morning: "The First Vacation is officially over, but it was a quiet morning as press corps exchanged fading holiday memories. Cold, crisp winter air keeps pouring into the press briefing room through its non-LEED certified windows. Scarves and coats encouraged for briefing."

We're hearing from Norm Chow for the first time since he was fired from U-H....and it's surprisingly in a funny way.
