Hiker survives 50-foot fall in Waianae

WAIANAE, OAHU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

A hiker survived a 50-foot fall on Saturday night, and if it wasn’t for a tree, he would’ve plummeted another 100 feet, Honolulu fire officials say.

Officials said the man was hiking with a group behind Waianae Valley Road.

A tree broke his fall and he was found wedged in it, officials said.

It’s not clear how severe his injuries were.
