Rainbow Wahine fight back, fall to Penn Quakers

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

The visiting University of Pennsylvania women's basketball team had three players score more than 15 points, and the Quakers beat the Rainbow Wahine, 64-54, on Saturday at the Stan Sheriff Center.

Connie Morris led the 'Bows in scoring, with 13 points, and blocked shots, with six. Destiny King added 10 points and 5 rebounds.

"You don't beat a very disciplined, very confident basketball team, that has all the pieces, by only showing up for one and a half or two quarters," said Rainbow Wahine head coach Laura Beeman. "You just don't. We dug ourselves a hole and could not get out of it."

After trailing by as many as 18 points, Hawaii closed to within 3 on a Destiny King layup late in the fourth, but were unable to narrow the gap any further.

U.H., which have played five of their last six on the road, head back to California this week to open conference play against Long Beach State. That game, on Thursday, will be followed by a tilt with U.C. Davis on Saturday before the team returns for its next home game.
