Rainbow Warriors end non-conference slate with win over Howard

Roderick Bobbitt notched his third 30-point game in four outings, Aaron Valdes totaled the third triple-double in Hawaii basketball history, and the Rainbow Warriors beat Howard, 92-59, as they finish their non-conference schedule.

Bobbitt, who scored 30 or more points twice in the Diamond Head Classic, totaled 31 points against the Bison, including 7-for-11 shooting from three point range. He chipped in six rebounds and three assists for the 'Bows, who improved to 11-2 on the season.

Valdes, meanwhile, turned in a strong performance of his own, adding 16 points, 15 rebounds and 11 assists of his own. 

"I think I was just in a good rhythm to start the game," Valdes, a junior guard, said after the game. "Guys found me, one of the first possession, got a three. It opened it up for me more. I was able to penetrate, find the guys open."

"They [his teammates] hit shots," Valdes added. "We're always ready to play, I feel. No matter what time it is. Day, night, I feel like we do a good job of coming to play."

The Rainbow Warriors will next 'come to play' on Wednesday against Cal Poly, the team's conference opener. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. at the Stan Sheriff Center.
