A north-northwest swell combined with trade winds over the islands will produce elevated and rough surf through Monday, the National Weather Service said.

The following High Surf Advisories have been issued for the following until 6 p.m.:

  • Big Island: East shores
  • Kauai: East, north, west shores
  • Maui: East, north shores
  • Molokai: East, north shores
  • Niihau: North, west shores
  • Oahu: East, north shores

Forecasters said surf along east shores will reach 5 to 8 feet. Surf along north and west shores will be 14 to 18 feet, while north-facing shores will see waves of 12 to 18 feet.

Beachgoers should expect strong breaking waves, shore break and strong longshore and rip currents that will make swimming difficult and dangerous.
