South Korean National drowns off Maui beach

Maui Maui

Sunday morning, two days after Christmas, a man's body was pulled from the waters off of Maui's Black Rock Beach.

The man has been identified as a South Korean National and was found unresponsive shortly before 10:30 a.m.

Beach goers rushed to the man's aid, pulled him out of the water and started giving him CPR.

Emergency personnel arrived on scene shortly after the victim was brought onto shore. Medics continued CPR for 30 minutes but unfortunately the man was unable to be revived.

The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

This is the second drowning at Black Rock Beach in just over two months. In October, an 80-year-old man from California passed away after being pulled from the West Maui beach's waters.
