HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

Former University of Hawaii football coach June Jones is returning to the sidelines of college football, if only for one game.

Jones and former University of Notre Dame head coach Charlie Weis will coach against one another in the East-West Shrine Game next month in St. Petersburg, Florida, the coach confirmed to Hawaii News Now today.

The East-West Shrine Game has been played 90 times before this year’s contest, making it the oldest of all the collegiate all-star games. Kick-off is set for 4 p.m. (EST) on January 23, 2016 at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Fla. The game will be broadcast live on NFL Network, according to a release from game organizers.

Jones has not coached collegiate football since leaving the SMU Mustangs football program in 2014. He applied for the University of Hawaii's head coaching job prior to the school's hiring of his one-time quarterback Nick Rolovich.
