Man’s best friend “woofed” their way up the Kealia Trail in Mokuleia on Saturday.
The Hawaiian Humane Society’s Paws on the Path Hiking Club hold a monthly hike for pet owners and their four-legged friends. More than 20 people and their dogs joined in on this month’s fun.
“The club is a great way for dog owners to get outdoors with their furry partners and strengthen the human-animal bond, while also meeting other animal-loving hikers,” said Christina Kam, Hawaiian Humane Societies communications and events manager.
Next month, the club will be taking on the Manoa Falls trail.
Each hike is lasts as long as two hours and usually starts at 8:30 a.m. each month. Paws on the Path also has a sunset hike every July on the Makapuu trail.
If interested in the hikes, the Humane Society asks that each owner brings enough water for themselves and their pet. They also ask that people stay with the group and always stay with an experienced and knows the trail well. In case of emergencies, carry a cell phone.
