Australian pro surfer, Bede Durbidge is facing a long recovery after a nasty wipeout at Pipeline last week.

After a hard hit on the reef, Durbidge broke his pelvis during the Billabong Pipe Masters contest.

Officials say he could be in a wheelchair for a month.

Doctors put in a rod, a metal plate and four screws to hold his pelvis together.

Meanwhile, Florida surfer Evan Geiselman who was also injured at Pipeline this month is recovering well. He even got to meet the man that saved his life.

Geiselman finally got the opportunity to meet Andre Botha, who swam out in rough waters and gave him rescue breaths while bringing his body back to shore.

"Its something I almost don't want to remember but its just awesome to know how much support everyone has for one another because surfing is such an individual sport," Geiselman said.
