Person found unresponsive in Kapalua

KAPALUA, MAUI (HawaiiNewsNow) -

Emergency crews were dispatched at 11:49 p.m. on Friday to someone reportedly floating face down in the water near D.T. Fleming Beach Park in Kapalua, Maui.

When firefighters arrived at D.T. Fleming at 11:58 a.m., ocean safety personnel had already retrieved the person and were on the beach performing CPR. 

Firefighters and paramedics continued life-saving measures, however, the victim could not be revived and died at the scene.

Bystanders walking on Makaluapuna Point on the west side of D.T. Fleming Beach Park reported the person floating in the ocean. Ocean Safety personnel on rescue watercraft found the victim at the tip of Makaluapuna Point and loaded the victim onto their rescue sled and brought the person to shore.
