Hawaii’s population grew by .8 percent in the 12 months that ended in July, according to Census estimates.

That’s about in line with previous years, and the same as the growth rate seen from 2013 to 2014.

But, statisticians point out, Hawaii’s population is growing slower than it was in 2011 and 2012, in part because of higher “out-migration” to the mainland.

Hawaii’s population is now estimated at 1,431,603, up 11,346 people from July 2014.

State researchers crunched the numbers and found that from July 2014 to July 2015:

>> There were 53 births on average in Hawaii every day, and an average of 32 deaths;

>> Domestic out-migration was higher than in-migration. On average, 19 more people left Hawaii for the mainland every day than came into Hawaii from other states;

>> However, international in-migration was higher than domestic out-migration.

>> Altogether, with domestic and international in-migration, eight more people on average came into the islands daily than left.
