HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Military and civilian first responders who came to the aid of the crew and passengers of the Osprey that crashed at Bellows on May 17 were honored on Friday by the commander of the Marine Corps Forces, Pacific and Honolulu mayor Kirk Caldwell.
Two marines died and 18 marines were injured in the crash.
"That's really a wound that strikes deep into the heart of the corps," General John Toolan said. "What really has helped us deal with that wound was the immediate reaction of the community, the city and county first responders."
Lance Corporals Joshua Barron and Matt Determan died in the accident.
