A large earthquake has shaken an area near the coast of Mexico on Thursday, but it has not generated a tsunami threat for Hawaii, according to the Pacific Tsunami Warning Center.
The earthquake -- near the coast of Chiapas -- was initially measured at a magnitude of 6.6 when it struck around 9:50 a.m. HST, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
There were no immediate reports of damages or injuries.
