Police raid suspected illegal game rooms in Honolulu

HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Teams of undercover Honolulu police officers on Wednesday executed search warrants and raided three establishments on Wednesday night, seizing 24 gambling machines and cash.

Two of the suspected illegal game rooms are located on Kalakaua Avenue, Mauka of the convention center.

Hayley McDermott, who lives nearby, said she has seen suspicious activity at the businesses for a while and that people have to knock to get in. Both have blacked out windows and security cameras.

"There's always people out here, always different characters, and you can just really, it's obvious they are up to no good," she said. "The girls always have little outfits on at 6:30 in the morning, the guys are always out here, it looks like there's drugs involved."

No arrests have been made, but the investigation continues.
