An election for Native Hawaiians has been canceled, officials from Na‘i Aupuni announced Tuesday during a press conference.
Kealii Lopez of Imua Hawaii was on Sunrise Tuesday morning to provide an update on two big deadlines related to Native Hawaii self-governance.
The deadline to submit comments regarding a government-to-government relationship between Native Hawaiians and the U.S. Department of Interior is on Dec. 30.
Lopez spoke about the deadline to vote for the Native Hawaiian election. However, Na'i Aupuni announced shortly thereafter that it has canceled the election process altogether.
