PEARL HARBOR (HawaiiNewsNow) - Visitors to the USS Arizona Memorial may be surprised to see that it will be dark for a few nights, but it's because crews will be doing electrical work, officials say.
The electrical work started Monday and will continue for the next few days. A spokeswoman for the USS Arizona Memorial said because of the darkness, the American flag will be brought down and will be raised the following day. It's a sign of respect to light the flag properly if it's flown 24 hours a day.
The work is not expected to interrupt visitation. The harbor lights will go as scheduled on Thursday and Friday.
