Felix Kiprotich was the first to finish in the 2015 Honolulu Marathon on Sunday.
The 27-year-old elite runner from Kenya crossed the finish line at Kapiolani Park with a time of two hours, 11 minutes and 43 seconds. That was just about a half-minute off the all-time marathon record.
Defending women's division champion Joyce Chepkirui, also of Kenya, was the first woman to finish with a time of 2:28:34.
The first five finishers were from Kenya. Last year's winner, Wilson Chebet, was second with a time of 2:12:46.
Marathon officials said 22,029 runners crossed the starting line when the race began at 5 a.m.
A total of 30,783 runners and 2,811 walkers had registered to participate.
