MAUNA KEA, HAWAII (HawaiiNewsNow) - Extremely gusty winds are creating some potentially hazardous conditions for summits on Maui and the Big Island.
The National Weather Service has issued a High Wind Warning for Haleakala until 6 p.m. Friday. East to southeast winds are between 50 to 65 mph with gusts to 80 mph.
A Wind Advisory is also in effect for the summits of Mauna Loa and Mauna Kea on the Big Island, with east to southeast winds at 35 to 50 mph and gusts to 65 mph.
The Wind Advisory is in effect until 6 p.m. Friday.
Motorists are urged to drive with extreme caution if in these areas.
