A man accused of stealing more than $130,000 from nine people while posing as a contractor was sentenced Tuesday to 15 years in prison.
Alexander Nebre had pleaded no contest in six cases where he faced various theft charges. Authorities said between 2011 and 2014, Nebre tricked people into thinking he was a licensed contractor and took their money without completing the job.
Judge Shirley Kawamura sentenced Nebre to consecutive 5- and 10-year terms.
“What he did – in some cases stealing the savings of people on fixed incomes – was unconscionable,” Kaneshiro said, adding that Nebre continued to prey on victims while he was out on bail in two of the cases.
Nebre was also ordered to pay $131,000 in restitution.
