HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - If you're thinking about buying your child a cell phone this holiday season, Shane Crowder from AT&T Hawaii offered some tips. He suggested that you buy your child his or her first cell phone between the ages of 8 and 12. He didn't want to offer an exact age because he says it depends on the needs of the family and the maturity of the child.
Once your child has a smart phone, he suggests that you set parameters for them up front so that there is no confusion. Also, Crowder says parents should monitor the phone and internet use closely. He believes that pass codes should be used, but your child should share those with you.
