BIG ISLAND (HawaiiNewsNow) - More public information meetings are being held on Big Island to address the dengue fever outbreak.
The meetings will take place on the following days at these locations:
- Monday, Nov. 30 – 6 p.m. – Waimea Middle School cafeteria
- Tuesday, Dec. 1 – 6:30 p.m. – Kohala High School cafeteria
- Thursday, Dec. 3 – 6:30 p.m. – Pahoa High School cafeteria
As of Friday, the latest confirmed number of cases was up to 107, including 93 residents and 24 children.
Because dengue fever is only transmitted by mosquitoes, the state Department of Health is spraying and treating areas with high mosquito presence and confirmed cases.
The dengue fever outbreak has not affected other islands thus far.
