A man in his 60s died after he was struck by a vehicle Sunday evening near Downtown Honolulu, authorities said.
The accident occurred just before 6:30 p.m. near River Street in one of the westbound lanes on North Nimitz Highway.
The victim, who has not yet been identified, was taken to the Queen’s Medical Center in critical condition where he later died, police said. He was not in a marked crosswalk at the time.
The 47-year-old driver was not injured, police said, and it does not appear that speed, drugs and alcohol were factors in the crash.
Officers closed two lanes in the westbound direction as they investigated the scene.
