The College Opportunities Program (COP) is now accepting applications for its 2016 summer cohort. The application deadline is January 7, 2016 and can be found online at www.hawaii.edu/cop. Supporting documents are to be turned in by January 15, 2016.
High school seniors and others who have earned a high school diploma who may not meet the minimum entrance requirements for the University of Hawaii at Manoa can get a second chance to prove themselves worthy of admittance through COP.
“COP has given me the chance to better my future by providing me with an opportunity to be admitted into UH Manoa,” said Kawai Moss, a COP 2013 alumni.
Participants in the free six-week summer program are housed on the Manoa campus and are enrolled in classes designed to upgrade academic and social skills. Room, board, textbooks and instructional expenses are all covered by COP.
The COP summer residential program runs from July 3, 2016 to August 12, 2016.
Participants who successfully complete the summer program requirements are admitted to UH Manoa and advance to COP’s First-Year Academic Program where they receive “one-stop” advising services like course registration, financial aid, career planning and on-campus employment.
“I would not be where I am today without the College Opportunities Program,” said COP 2010 alumni Hazel Asperin. “I was able to accomplish so much at UH Manoa because of the guidance and support from the COP staff and I am so glad I applied.”
