MAKAHA, OAHU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Ocean Safety crews have posted warning signs along West Oahu beaches after spotting a shark in the area.
The shark was seen around 11 a.m. Tuesday about 100 yards off of Pokai Bay near the Army's recreation center. Witnesses say the shark was about six feet long and thrashing in the water.
Because it was thrashing, ocean safety crews deemed the shark "aggressive", cleared the water of swimmers and posted warning signs.
Lifeguards will reassess the water this afternoon to determine if the signs can come down.
