It may seem simple, but for the Radford football team, getting the opportunity to ring the bell at school this morning meant everything.
"There's a tradition here at our high school where every state champion, whether it's an individual champion or a team champion, gets to ring the bell all the way up the main hallway and all the way back down," head football coach Fred Salanoa said. "That was an exciting moment for our young men, all 55 of them."
It is the selflessness of those 55 players that helped the team bring home a state title for the first time since 1981.
"They were really close," Salanoa said. "These young men kept their heads leveled, they were humble. We had two goals in mind and that was to win the OIA championship and the state championship and we accomplished both of them. I think that was the main thing, that we always had our eyes on our prize."
