HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - The spirit of Thanksgiving came a few days early for 50 St. Andrew's Priory students who helped pack 1,800 food items for 100 needy families living at Kuhio Park Terrace.
The 8th and 11th graders gathered cereals, noodles, soups, pudding and other grocery items for Monday's second annual "Packing Party" inside a Sellon Hall classroom.
Most of the donations were made by the Priory girls themselves and were collected for two weeks prior to the event.
"This really helps me feel the spirit of Thanksgiving because helping those who don't have food, when Thanksgiving is really all about food for me, is really meaningful," said Camryn Nishita, a St. Andrew's Priory junior. "I feel like I'm doing a lot of good work with this."
