A woman has been charged in the fatal stabbing of a Wailuku man late Sunday.
Taliah Nelson, 32, was charged Monday with second-degree murder. Police say Nelson, who is transgender, fatally stabbed David Keczon, 57, while he slept Sunday night.
The two live in a transitional home in Wailuku run by Mental Health Kokua. The organization describes the home as a place where people with mental health needs can transition into the community.
Maui police say officers were called to the home about 11:30 p.m., and found Kecxon with a stab wound to the chest.
Nelson was found hours later walking on Lower Main Street. Her bail is set at $1 million.
