KAHULUI, MAUI (HawaiiNewsNow) - A grand jury on Tuesday indicted the man accused of killing a Washington state man and an Idaho teen in a car crash in Kahului on July 6.
Police said they believe Roman Semes was driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs when his truck slammed into a Ford Taurus, killing 72-year-old Ronald Dean and 16-year-old Noah Chapman. Officers arrested Semes for two counts of negligent homicide and two counts of negligent injury after finding him hiding in bushes nearby. He was later released pending investigation.
Dean's wife and another teenage boy were also seriously hurt.
Semes faces numerous charges. His bail has been set at $1 million.
