HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Radford and Kapaa each won semifinal games Saturday in the HHSAA state football tournament to advance to next Friday's championship game at Aloha Stadium.
On Kauai earlier Saturday afternoon, the Warriors posted their 7th consecutive shutout against the Lunas of Lahainaluna, winning handily, 24-0, at Vidinha Stadium. Kapaa has not been scored upon since August 15, when they allowed 10 points to the same Lahainaluna team they shut out on Saturday.
There was a significantly larger point total scored on the turf at Ticky Vasconcellos Stadium, where Radford beat Konawaena 48-46 to advance to the title game. The Rams racked up 528 yards of total offense, but a failed two-point conversion by the Wildcats after a touchdown with less than 7 minutes to play would have equalized the score.
Neither team scored after that mark.
Kickoff on Friday afternoon is set for 4:30 p.m. Kahuku and Saint Louis will play in the division one state championship at 7:30 p.m.
