The wait is finally over as shoppers can now rejoice in the grand opening of Ala Moana Center’s new Ewa wing expansion, just in time for the holiday season.
More than 30 retailers will open its doors Thursday at 9 a.m. as part of the multi-level, 650,000-square-foot expansion that’s still in progress.
Among some of the stores to open are Bloomingdale’s, Kate Spade New York, Ted Baker London and the North Face. Zara, one of the largest international clothing retailers, will open in December, while many other businesses – like Nordstrom, Hermes, Foodland Farms and the Shirokiya Japan Village Walk – are slated to open in 2016.
The new parking lot will also include 4,500 additional parking stalls, bringing the total number of parking spots for the mall to 11,000.
The grand opening on Thursday will be complete with entertainment – including hula dancing and a Chinese lion dance – as well as a traditional Hawaiian blessing and complimentary cupcakes from Magnolia Bakery, one of the businesses to open. Shoppers can also head to center stage for merchant fashion shows.
