HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - An Oahu Community Correctional Center work furlough inmate was captured after trying to flee from the facility on Tuesday afternoon, authorities said.
Anthony Fontana, 33, was preparing to leave OCCC Module 20 on a furlough pass at around 1 p.m. As he was about to exit, corrections officers called him back and that's when he decided to flee. Officers chased after Fontana and caught him near the Tesoro Gas Express on Kamehameha Highway.
Police arrested Fontana for second-degree escape and have returned him to OCCC.
He was serving time for unauthorized entry into a motor vehicle.
