HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - Mayor Kirk Caldwell will depart Tuesday evening to meet with federal officials in Washington, D.C., to discuss rail and homelessness.
During his trip, Caldwell will:
- Deliver a speech at the American Resort Development Association fall conference.
- Meet with Federal Transit Administration acting Administrator Therese McMillan and Under Secretary of Transportation for Policy Peter Rogoff to discuss Honolulu’s rail project and full funding grant agreement.
- Meet with officials from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development to discuss Honolulu’s efforts to end veteran homelessness by the end of 2015, Housing First, and other homelessness initiatives.
Managing Director Roy Amemiya will be acting mayor until Caldwell returns to Honolulu on Sunday.
