HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) - In celebration of National Women's Small Business Month, Judy Crooks' story is that of the American Dream. She is a Honolulu businesswoman who oversees 120+ SUBWAY restaurants in the area, including five stores which she owns.
Judy, who is the daughter of a member of the US Armed Forces, (her father was based at Camp Smith, after a stint in Japan – where Judy was born), did not go to college and was previously in the car rental business before starting with SUBWAY. Her hard working and respectful attitude caught the attention of SUBWAY Development Agent Ted Davenport, who hired Judy to work in his office in 1998. A quick six years later, Judy purchased her first SUBWAY Restaurant in 2004, and she has been a franchising success story ever since.
