Hawaii Tourism Authority puts out a request for qualifications - in search of a contractor to plan next year's state tourism conference.

Starting today -Hawaii's oldest food festival - 45 years and still percolating - it's the Kona Coffee Cultural Festival - 10 days to the 15th - coffee farm tours, food, music, a parade, and a floating lantern ceremony in Kamaka-honu Bay in front of the King Kamehameha hotel.

That's on the Big Island - on Maui, today, it's the Made in Maui County Festival. More than 140 vendors are participating this year. It's at the MACC.

Pacific Expos and Special Events Hawaii are looking for vendors for a new Christmas shopping event, the Mele Kalikimaka Marketplace, to be held at Blaisdell on the weekend of December 12 and 13. Most booths cost $400 but there are a few options. MeleKalikimakaMarketplace dotcom.

Ward Village opens its Festival of Giving today. From now through the weekend, Ward retailers will be offering special gifts and deals, and proceeds to charities. Most of the freebies are tied to a Festival of Giving Passport that costs $10, and that's the money going to nonprofits.
