The USS Arizona Memorial dock has been reopened Friday after engineers determined repairs to the dock were minor and the walkway is safe for visitors.

The National Park Service and the U.S. Navy originally closed the dock after they noticed a change in the angle of the dock attached to the memorial at Pearl Harbor Thursday.

Crews noticed stress to the bolts that connect the dock to the memorial. For public safety, visitation to the memorial was suspended for an indefinite period while engineers examined the situation.

In May, the memorial was closed for nine days after a ship's propeller wash pushed the floating dock into the memorial.

The attraction averages more than 4,500 visitors a day.
