Halau hula na pualei o likolehua, the halau of the late Leina’ale Kalama Heine, presents Na Lani ‘Eha, an annual celebration honoring the royal siblings Kalakaua, Lili’uokalani, Likelike and Leleiokhoku on Sunday, November 8. In its 18th year, the halau puts on the annual performance to perpetuate their love of Hawaiian poetry, music and hula.
This year, Na Pualei o Likolehua (Nuli’I Heine, Leina’alas daughter), Ka La Onohi Mai o Ha’eha’e (Tracie & Keawe Lopes), and Halau Hula Ka Lehua Tuahine (Ka’ilihiwa Vaughan-Darval) will be performing. Keauhou, Helen Wood
The lively presentation by the three halau mimics the friendly rivalry between the four ali‘i siblings in putting forth the best oli (chant), hula (dance) and mele (song).
The admission price for Na Lani ‘Eha is $25. The performance will be held at McKinley High school auditorium, and doors will open at 2:30 p.m. with the performance starting at 3 p.m.
