Speaking of Merrie Monarch Festival, we earlier had Halau Na Pualei O Likolehua here in our Sunrise studios.  Kumu Hula Niuli'i Heine mentioned to me that they will be entered in Merrie Monarch to honor her Mom who recently passed away.  Their annual hula event Na Lani 'Eha is this Sunday at McKinley HS
It's made possible in part by a grant from Honolulu Mayor's Office of Culture and the Arts.

Adele's 'Hello' has become the first song to sell one million tracks in a week.  Adele's comeback track sold 1.11 million digital songs, setting a new record.
Flo Rida's Right Round previously had the record for most downloads in a week with 636,000.

Kauai residents and visitors are invited to the inaugural Garden Island Film Festival.  It will feature films that highlight Hawaii, Micronesia and other parts of Polynesia.  "The Haumana" directed by Keo Woolford is one of the films being featured.  The festival runs November 20th to the 22nd at various venues.

All you Trekkies out there will be happy to hear...a new Star Trek Series is in the works.  Alex Kurtzman is teaming up with Bob Orci to produce an all-new Star Trek series.  The two co-wrote and produced 2009's feature film "Star Trek" and "Star Trek: Into Darkness" in 2013.
The all-new series will feature new characters, original alien races and unknown exotic interplanetary locations.   The presently untitled Star Trek series will be available exclusively on CBS All Access...that's CBS's cross-platform streaming network.  It is set to premiere January 2017.
(from Billy V:  There is a Hawaii connection  Both of Alex Kurtzman and Bob Orci co-developed, Executive Produced, co-wrote "Hawaii Five-0".  It would be wonderful if they had some people from Hawaii in the new Star Wars series!)

Next time you fly Hawaiian Airlines...look for musician Kuana Torres Kahele &  Miss Aloha Hula Tehani Pimental.
