WAIKIKI (HawaiiNewsNow) -

Police have re-opened Kapahulu Avenue at Leahi Avenue following an hours-long investigation.

Police closed the roadway for a suspicious package investigation linked to a bank robbery earlier in the day.

The robbery happened Thursday afternoon at the Bank of Hawaii on Kalakaua Avenue.

Police quickly detained a suspect -- 45-year-old Albert Robledo -- in the robbery, but remained on the scene for hours to investigate a backpack that they said may contain a suspicious device.

Police said Robledo was carrying a switch blade when he entered the bank. He allegedly passed a teller a note saying he had a bomb in his backpack.
