Mililani High School quarterback McKenzie Milton, the state's reigning offensive player-of-the-year, has resumed football activities and is expected to participate in the HHSAA state football tournament when it begins next week, Trojans head coach Rod York told Hawaii News Now on Wednesday.

Milton, who has been rehabilitating a sprained A.C. joint, has not played since September 26, when he was injured in a game against the Kailua Surfriders.

York says Milton will not play against Kahuku on Friday, in a rematch of last year's OIA Championship, but that he expected the star quarterback to be available for Mililani's first game of the state tournament.

"It's 95 percent he'll play," York said.

Should Mililani win against Kahuku on Friday, Milton will likely get another week to rest before returning to the field; a victory would likely ensure a top-2 seed in the state tournament, which would mean an opening round bye for the Trojans.

Kickoff for Mililani and Kahuku on Friday is set for 8:00 p.m. They're opponent for the state championship has not yet been determined.
