3 rescued from boat that ran aground off Kahala Beach

KAHALA, OAHU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

Rescue crews recovered three people from a sportfishing boat Wednesday morning off Kahala Beach.

The U.S. Coast Guard said it received a report at around 6:20 a.m. that a boat -- the Lisa 1 -- ran aground offshore near the Kahala Hotel and Resort. The Coast Guard then notified the Honolulu Fire Department.

HFD crews later rescued the individuals from the 46-foot boat.

No injuries were reported.

There were no reports of any fuel leaks, but the Coast Guard is securing $25,000 in federal money to make sure there's no pollution. Crews will work on Thursday to remove up to 500 gallons of diesel oil from the boat that's still stuck on the reef.
