HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

The first-ever Hawaii Law Enforcement Memorial Foundation triathlon will spur morning road closures Saturday from Ala Moana to Kaneohe.

Organizers said portions of Ala Moana Boulevard, Nimitz Highway, the H-1 and H-3 freeways, Kaneohe Bay Drive, and Mokapu Bouelvard will be closed at various times for the race.

More than 300 people are participating in the race, which kicks off at 6:15 a.m. with a 1,000-meter swim at Ala Moana Beach Park.

From there, participants will transition to bicycles for a 27-mile ride on Ala Moana Boulevard, Nimitz Highway, over the H-3 Freeway, onto Kaneohe Bay Drive and to Aikahi Elementary School. Participants will then run 10 kilometers at Kaneohe Marine Corps Base Hawaii and back to the elementary school.

Here’s the complete list of road closures:

  • East-bound lanes of Ala Moana Boulevard from Piikoi Street to Atkinson Drive will be closed from 6 a.m. to 7:30 a.m.
  • West-bound lanes of Ala Moana Boulevard and Nimitz Highway will be closed from Atkinson Drive to Sand Island Road from 6 a.m. to 8 a.m.
  • The two right west-bound lanes of the H-1 Freeway will be closed from the Valkenburg Street on-ramp to the Kaneohe-Honolulu off-ramp from 6:30 a.m. to 9 a.m.
  • The Kaneohe-Honolulu off-ramp from the H-1 Freeway to the H-3 Kaneohe-bound Freeway will be closed from 6:30 a.m. to after the last cyclist has passed.
  • East-bound lanes of the H-3 Freeway will be closed from all on-ramps to Kaneohe Bay Drive from 6:30 a.m. to after the last cyclist has passed.
  • Kaneohe Bay Drive from the H-3 Freeway off-ramp to Iliahu Street will be closed from 7 a.m. to after the last cyclist has passed.
  • Only one lane for local traffic will be open on Ilihau Street/Aikahu Loop from Kaneohe Bay Drive to Mokapu Road from 7 a.m. to after the last runner has passed.
  • Mokapu Road will be closed to Kaneohe Marine Corps Base Hawaii outbound traffic from Aikahi Loop from 8 a.m. to after the last runner has passed.

Police will try to let traffic starting flowing in closed areas once the bulk of the participants have passed through race checkpoints.

Most roads should re-opened by 8 a.m. Kaneohe Bay Drive should re-open about 9:45 a.m., and Mokapu Road should re-open about 11 a.m.
