HILO, BIG ISLAND (HawaiiNewsNow) -

The search for a missing elderly couple on Hilo has come to an end after police found the woman alive but her husband's dead body in a ravine.

On Friday afternoon, police located 93-year-old Masaru Miyamoto’s body, decomposed, in a ravine behind a home on Kahema Street. They were unable to positively identify him, however, until Monday after analyzing his fingerprints. An autopsy on Tuesday determined that Miyamoto died from injuries consistent with an accidental fall.

Police were able to find 88-year-old Tamie Miyamoto, who was alive, in thick vegetation. She was transported to the Hilo Medical Center in good condition.

The couple was reported missing on Oct. 11.
