Former world champion boxer Brian Viloria, a Waipahu native, lost his shot at the WBC flyweight title to Nicaraguan fighter Roman 'Chocolatito' Gonzalez at Madison Square Garden on Saturday.

Gonzalez, unbeaten in his professional boxing career, won by TKO in the 9th round after referee Benjy Esteves, Jr. stopped the bout at 2 minutes and 53 seconds in the ninth round.

After the fight, Viloria sent out a tweet that read "I lost to a great champion. Congrats to Chocolatito. I tip my hat to you and it was my honor to fight you. God bless!"
