KANEOHE, OAHU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

Emergency repairs will close the Wilson Tunnel’s Honolulu-bound lanes starting Tuesday, the state said.

The state said both the Likelike Highway lanes will be closed from the H-3 Freeway split through the tunnel from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m. every night, including over the weekend.

Crews expect to wrap up the work by Nov. 9.

During the hours that the tunnel is open, the state asks that drivers be cautious while traveling through the area. The speed limit has been reduced from 35 mph to 25 mph.

The state kicked off the emergency repairs after a routine inspection found damage to stainless steel rods in the tunnel. The cost of the work is $1.3 million.
