HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

The state has closed down Blue Water Shrimp and Seafood Market at Ala Moana Shopping Center after the eatery failed to correct “chronic temperature violations.”

In a news release Friday, the Department of Health said the restaurant had been issued a red “closed” placard, and fined $9,000.

The market was issued a yellow “conditional pass” placard Oct 7, and follow-up inspections from Oct. 9 to Friday revealed multiple “violations of temperature requirements for holding perishable foods,” the DOH said.

The state had a meeting with the eatery’s owner Thursday to discuss the serious nature of the food safety violations.

And on Friday, inspectors found perishable foods, including raw meat, being held above the required 41 degrees.

The state said the eatery will remain closed until the food storage violations are fixed.

This is the second red placard the state has issued this month. On Oct. 7, the DOH closed down Paalaa Kai Bakery because of improper refrigeration.

The state launched its placard system last year.
