KONA, HAWAII (HawaiiNewsNow) - In 2005, after finishing his first Ironman race, athlete Casey Boren found out he had Type 1 diabetes. Rather than let his condition decide his fate, he embraced it. He recently finished the Ironman World Championship in Kona on Oct. 10.
To help other athletes with diabetes, he started up a new project called Diabetes Sports Project to educate diabetes patients to achieve their goals and aspirations.
Boren joined Dan Cooke to talk more about the project.
