HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

A Honolulu police officer won’t serve jail time after pleading no contest to trespassing and property damage charges.

Prosecutors say 56-year-old Richard Staszyn posed as a security guard to try to break into a woman's home in Kaneohe back in June.

They say he damaged a window screen.

The charges will be wiped from his record if he stays out of trouble for the next six months.

Staszyn is on desk duty until the Honolulu Police Department completes its internal investigation.
