HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) -

Honolulu police are investigating two unrelated robberies overnight in the Kapahulu and McCully areas.

The first incident occurred at 1:17 a.m. in a two-story apartment at 2914 Kaimuki Ave.

Police say the suspect, a local male in his 20s weighing about 200 pounds and wearing dark clothing, entered a downstairs unit and threatened a man and a woman inside with a kitchen knife.

He fled toward Crane Park across the street with some property that included credit cards, cash and a Hawaii drivers license.

Detectives with the Criminal Investigation Division are handling that first-degree robbery case.

Then at 3:20 a.m., a man sleeping at a bus stop across from the 7-Eleven on McCully Street and Kapiolani Boulevard was robbed of his backpack and property.

Police say the suspect ran across the street toward Ala Wai Park and along the bike path where they made an arrest. The suspect was positively identified by the victim and his property was recovered, police said.

If you have information on the Kapahulu area robbery, you are asked to contact police.
